WHAT IS THE PITCH OF A CHAIN?
The Pitch of the chain is the center to center measurement of the chain pins (see fig at right)
Following is the pitch by manufacturer:
1.  Ditch Witch,  1.654", 2.00", 3.067".
2.  Case, Davis, Aztec,  1.654", 2.609", 2.650", 4.00".
3.  Vermeer,  1.654", 2.00", 3.00", 4.00", 4.50".
4.  Bobcat, Midmark, Berkeen,  1.654", 2.00", 3.067".
5.  Parsons, Seaman, Digzall,  1.654", 2.00", 3.067".
6.  Attachments,   1.654", 2.00", 3.067".
WHAT IS THE STYLES OF CHAIN?
1.  STANDARD CHAIN (AKA 4 PITCH CHAIN),     Has 1 tooth attachment side plate for every 4 chain pins.

 Use this chain in wet, sticky digging conditions such as; light to heavy loams, loamy             clays, gumbo and other soils that contain moisture.   Also use in medium soils and               clays.

2.  DOUBLE STANDARD CHAIN (AKA 2 PITCH CHAIN OR FROST CHAIN)   Has 1 tooth attachment side plate for every 2 chain pins.

Use in soft & sandy soils, loose sand, sandy soil, loams, silt, Also use in medium soils & clays and rocky soils
Standard Chain (4 pitch).   4 Stations Long (16 pins)
Double Standard Chain (2 pitch or Frost Chain 
6 Stations Long (12 pins)
HOW LONG IS THE CHAIN?
The length of the chain is determined by
1.  The number of tooth attachment side plates.

2.  Or counting the number of chain pins.
