WHAT IS THE PITCH OF A CHAIN?
The Pitch of the chain is the center to center measurement of the chain pins (see fig at right)

WHAT IS THE STYLES OF CHAIN?
1. STANDARD CHAIN (AKA 4 PITCH SPACE CHAIN), Has 1 tooth attachment side plate for every 4 chain pins.
Use this chain in wet, sticky digging conditions such as; light to heavy loams, loamy clays, gumbo and other soils that contain moisture. Can be used in medium soils and clays.
2. DOUBLE STANDARD CHAIN (AKA 2 PITCH SPACE CHAIN OR FROST CHAIN).
Has 1 tooth attachment side plate for every 2 chain pins.
Use in soft & sandy soils, loose sand, sandy soil, loams, silt. Use in medium soils & clays and rocky soils as well.
Standard Chain (4 pitch space). 4 Stations Long (16 pins)
Double Standard Chain (2 pitch space) or Frost Chain
6 Stations Long (12 pins)
HOW LONG IS THE CHAIN?
The length of the chain is determined by
1. The number of tooth attachment side plates.
2. Or counting the number of chain pins and divide by 2.
